A statewide celebration to promote the enjoyment and protection of Maine's stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource through science, education, and the arts.

Initiated by the Island Astronomy Institute as the Acadia Starlight Festival in 2009, this festival has grown to a statewide effort featuring events prvodied by astronomy clubs, planetariums, science centers, and other community members across Maine.

As founder Peter Lord puts it, "We're trying to engage communities in Maine in enjoying, promoting, and managing Maine's high quality night sky."
