As the end of this year's Goethe-Institut Science Film Festival draws near, check out this article from MMC-News about the origins of the festival and some of the events taking place this year: In an attempt to tap the interests of students in science and technology, the Goethe-Institut with key partners—the Embassy of France, ABS-CBN Foundation, Unesco Philippines, Asean Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), SM Supermalls, Department of Education and Department of Science and Technology—will offer Filipinos a Science Film Festival from November 15 to 30. The festival will feature films on topics such as Family Edutainments; Ecology and Environment; Natural Science, Life Science and Technology; and Culture and History. There will be hands-on experiments and openforums after the screenings. Looking at the previous scenario in Thailand, where only 5 percent of its programs in national television is dedicated to science compared with 90 percent science-related shows in Germany, the group of Künzel felt that there needs to be done in solving this gap.
