To kick off Gothenburg's 15th International Science Festival all 42 cars of this Ferris wheel hosted a researcher. A sell-out crowd turned up to see what conversation topic they lucked into for their ride. Find out more about the festival and EUSCEA conference.
The 2011 International Science Festival Gothenburg takes place over two weeks, from May 3 to 15, and serves over 100,000 attendees. With a first week dedicated to school programming, and a final five days of public programs, the festival reaches deep into the communities of Sweden's second-largest city. Of particular interest is the multi-day "science cottage" set up in an extremely popular shopping mall in central Gothenburg. With ongoing activities, short talks, and other spectacles, this pavilion of science and technology holds its own against the latest fashion trends. 2011 International Science Festival Gothenburg website
This year the festival is also hosting the annual meeting of the European Science Events Association (EUSCEA). This membership group for organizations that organize large-scale science events throughout Europe is celebrating its 10th year.
