With the launch of sciencefestivals.org, the Science Festival Alliance is now bringing professionals together online. With interactive map and calendar functions, the new website makes it easy to find out about the many science festivals popping up around the US. The “get connected” feature also makes it easy to stay in touch with the latest science festival news. Although the website is a work in progress, it already reflects the values of the newly formed Science Festival Alliance. The Alliance is above all about collaboration and sharing, so the large image block on the site’s homepage provides a venue for both festivals and national partners to reach professional audiences with their own message and design. Similarly, photos and images throughout the site will change regularly to feature the many unique and independent festivals that are willing to share information for the betterment of the field. In the months (and years!) to come the website will grow to include a science festival resource center that helps new festivals get started, established festivals innovate, and partners make the most of their festival opportunities. At the heart of the resource center will be a system that allows users to contribute (and get credit for) ideas and information, and point others toward the most helpful resources and comments. Stay tuned! |
