St. Petersburg Science Festival

Our mission is to show that learning science can be fun, to showcase the wonders of science, to relate how science fits into the larger context of modern everyday life, and to connect the public with scientists for a direct translation.

The St. Petersburg Science Festival is an annual regional celebration where families and the public can explore the wonders of hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

The Festival has moved  to the Spring!  Our next Festival will be February 17 and 18, 2023.

Though we loved our October weekend for years, the disappointment of having to cancel in 2019 due to a Tropical Storm began our discussion about moving the event out of hurricane season.  Coming back from two years of virtual festivals gave us the right opportunity.

We will host Friday Sneak Peek School Day on Friday, February 17.  We are excited to be back in-person after two years of virtual. You can still experience the 2021 virtual interactive festival on this website.

The Saturday Public Festival will also be in-person at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus.

The event will be held in conjunction with MarineQuest, the annual open house of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.
